ALPFA, the Association of Latino Professionals For America is a professional organization empowering members with an opportunity for professional development and career growth. Even though ALPFA is a Latino organization, being a non-Latino member I have enhanced my network, networking skills and leadership skills. ALPFA gave me an opportunity to network with many companies , including PWC, Weaver and EY.
VITA, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is a program that offers free tax help to people with an income less than $54,000. VITA is a great opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and have a hands on experience. To be a VITA volunteer one has to go through training and be certified. VITA helped me to improve my network and made me more confident about the choice of career I made.
